2007 Newsletter
Jewels & Jeans was held October
14, 2006 at the Waterford at Fair Oaks with NFL Hall of Famer,
Charley Taylor as our Master of Ceremonies. We dined, danced
and had a great time. With the help of our generous sponsors,
underwriters, donors, guests and volunteers we raised over
$20,000. With these proceeds and those with from our 2005
fundraiser we have provided a computer keyboard for an Osborne
High School boy, 14 adaptive toys to 14 special needs children
and teens, a sensory vest for a Metz Middle School student,
a bath seat, computer software, two adaptive bicycles, three
wheelchairs and 11 therapeutic horseback riding scholarships
in VA and MD. We also made a generous donation to Springfield
Challenger a recreational program for special needs children
(20 t-ball/baseball teams). We would like to thank our sponsors,
Miller & Long
Concrete Construction, Mike Garcia Construction, and SGS
Builders, Inc. We would also like to thank Wise Guys Contracting
and Mr. Burgess for the purchase of Maggie’s bicycle
and of course many thanks to our volunteers for their hard
work and support.

a child with special needs has shown me how difficult it
can be to ensure your child has everything needed for a full
life”. Catherine is a member of the PWC-GM Chamber
of Commerce and the Shaken Baby Council, a national council
promoting awareness and prevention of SBS and legislation
for awareness and stricter sentencing guidelines. She
is the founder of a national billboard campaign, Shaking
A Baby Shatters Lives” “It’s a big
step in prevention for people to know the danger in it, to
know that it is against the law and to know that they will
go to prison for it.” Ebert said.
Cathy
Sanders has just been a champion, and she’s had an
everyday reminder of what can happen to someone you love.” (Washington
